How to Make Chocolate Gravy

On Wednesday night, I caved and made uber comfort food for myself and for poor sick B. He came out of the bedroom when I told him dinner was ready and he asked what we were having. I told him, "Bacon, eggs, homemade biscuits, and.... chocolate gravy." He seemed curious, but didn't balk entirely. In fact, he wanted to try it first.

First words: "Oh my God, that's just not fair." I think he was convinced that it was loaded with butter, Crisco, and bacon grease, but, aside from the sugar, we figured out it's really more like a thickened chocolate milk, and it's oh-so-good with salty buttermilk biscuits. In fact, if I could've, I would've given them a little sprinkle of sea salt. But then again, I crave sodium. Sue me.

Anyway, get thee to the work blog and check out the recipe for chocolate gravy. Muna, Michelle's grandma, shared the recipe with me and I have to say that I'm oh-so thankful!

PS-- I did make the biscuits from scratch, which was so easy and used basically pantry ingredients, save the buttermilk. The good news is that the recipe calls for 2 cups buttermilk, which is the exact amount in the smallest size they sell at the store. No leftovers! I did leave the honey out, as I thought it might mess with the goodness of the chocolate gravy...

Yes! I am so glad you shared this! I have been talking about chocolate gravy and how I'd like to have a recipe. My family never made it but I had some that the Grissom's house one time. Yum! Thanks for sharing.... and the homemade biscuit recipe too! Yay!
